The Think System

So today's post is a little different than normal. Its main idea is actually based off of "The Music Man", which I saw for the first time several months ago. For those of you who may not know, the protagonist, Harold Hill, starts out in River City, Iowa as a con man, posing as a music teacher/bandleader who is promoting something called the "think system". In this system, his students were to think about the song they were to play and get it into their heads, and the notes would come naturally to them. While this was kind of a made-up system that didn't work very well, a variation thereof can be used in real life.

I heard it said once that negativity and depression are often caused by negative thoughts, and can be fixed in a hurry simply by changing your mindset to a positive one. I've also heard that if you think you can't do something, you're right. Facing difficult situations and tasks first starts with believing you can. It really is that easy. Think about it- you can't very well be successful if you don't believe you can do what you're charged with. But Philippians 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." So what room is there, really, to believe you can't do something? None!

I can't make you change your mindset. But believe me, thoughts matter!
