I don't usually do posts like this, which kind of surprises me. I guess there is a first time for everything, but be expecting more like this in the future. So anyway, I just got the Gaither Vocal Band's new DVD, "We Have This Moment". On it, they do a bit of a more in-depth analysis of "We Are the Sands, We Are the Stars", a song from the recording (the CD released in October 2017). Gloria said something that really stunned me. It was an elaboration on the lyrics of the song, but it hit home for me even more than the lyrics did. She said that God took Abraham out into the night sky, full of stars, and said, "Count them, Abraham." Abraham replied, "I can't. There are too many." God said, "So shall your seed be."

Similarly, God then took Abraham walking on the seashore. Referring to the grains of sand, God again said, "Count them, Abraham." Again Abraham protested, "I can't. There are too many!" God once again replied, "So shall your seed be."

Then Gloria put a different spin on it. She imagined that on the day in heaven that Abraham is held in the bosom of God, that all the chosen of God will stand in front of them in one mighty throng, that is so vast that it looks like a cloud of lights. Again, she said, God will tell Abraham, "Count them." He might respond, "I can't. There are too many. And who are these people?" God would say, "These are your seed, as I promised."

I sat there in stunned silence as Bill interjected that if they were to collect a flashlight from everyone who has ever been to a concert (they hand out flashlights to everyone who goes to their concerts. I have one from Family Fest last year!) that even that probably wouldn't make a whole lot of light. He said, as I've heard him say before, that sometimes our efforts in the army of Christ seem trivial and insignificant. However, he continued that sometimes the full glory of our efforts will not take root until after we're gone and we need to trust that God will take what little we bring, and somehow make something big and beautiful out of it.

How true that is. I guess I shouldn't make this post too extensive, but I guess to sum it up, I would say that it is important for each one of us to make a difference. Shine bright. It doesn't matter how small your light may seem. God sees it.
