CD Review: Yes (Triumphant)

This CD was my first purchase of the year. Triumphant is David Sutton (tenor), Clayton Inman (lead), his son Scotty (baritone), and Eric Bennett (bass).

1. Going There: A fast song about heaven. Nothing wrong with that. :) Super fun and a great message too.

2. Even Me: The group's current single and probably a strong contender for Singing News' Song of the Year. This one features Scotty (which, in my book, is automatically a major plus!)

3. Eye of the Storm: Triumphant is definitely not the first group to do this song, but Clayton does a great job of it. I love everything about this track! The song talks about how God is with us through trials (which, as you are about to see, looks like a major theme in this album).

4. Yes: The title cut, this one features both Scotty and Eric and talks about how Jesus is always waiting with open arms for the return of his children. To be honest, the first little bit of the song reminds me of "Just a Little Talk with Jesus".

5. What He's Done for Me: Ok, so maybe this one is self-explanatory... but it features Eric and is about how God has been good to us.

6. Give You All the Glory: This one features David and is a sweet song about glorifying God in the midst of struggles.

7. Joy: A fun song, but I'm not honestly sure how realistic it is. The message sounds to me like, "You can take my possessions but I won't care because Jesus is all I need." I think it would be natural to be upset in a situation like that, but ok...

8. A Little Bit: David and Eric trade off on the verses. This song speaks of how God can... well... "do a lot with just a little bit"! Super fun, and it reminds me both stylistically and thematically of "A Little Bit of Me and You", recorded in 2014 by Brian Free and Assurance.

9. All Things Good: I found a YouTube video of this one a few months ago, actually. If I remember correctly, Scotty was featured on it then. However, it sounds like Clayton is doing it now. Both versions are great. This one talks about how, even in trials, God can work in our lives.

10. Only God Knows: I think this was actually on an older Triumphant release, but I LOVE THIS SONG! It features Scotty (so refer to #2 for my thoughts on that!)

11. We Believe: Kind of a "mission statement" type of song, and I think it would make a great radio release because it sounds like the next "We Will Remember" or "We Welcome Your Holy Spirit". A must-listen!

So... what more is there to say? BUY THIS! Triumphant is such a class act, and this CD portrays that.
